This review of EveryPlate is my own experience and opinions of the popular meal kit. I was not compensated for this post and paid for all the delivery boxes out of my pocket. If you use my referral link, you get $105 off your first box and I get a small discount on my next one.
Getting dinner on the table every night is a lot of work! If you are like me, you want to provide a generally healthy meal with some variety in your recipes. It needs to be relatively quick and easy to prepare, appeal to even the picky eaters in your house, and be affordable. Did I mention it needs to taste good?
You must decide what to make, buy the ingredients, prep, cook, and serve to your hungry family. Then you do it again the next night. And the next night. And so on. I’m exhausted just thinking about it! That’s why I was pleasantly surprised to stumble across EveryPlate.

EveryPlate is the Cheapest Meal Delivery Service
EveryPlate is hands-down the best meal kit delivery service for the money. At only $4.99 per meal, it is much cheaper per serving than any of the leading subscription competitors. Over the past couple of years, I have tried 29 different boxes each with three recipes (and counting)…and I have enjoyed 99% of the meals. That’s a pretty good success rate!
One of the ways they keep the price down is by carefully planning menus and packaging to reduce costs, meaning you won’t have a lot of unusual or unnecessary ingredients. This also makes it easier for me to decide what to order without being overwhelmed with choices. There are also about four options each week with more expensive ingredients like shrimp and better cuts of steak, so you can choose to pay a little extra for those recipes if you like. I haven’t tried any of the premium options yet to keep my cost consistent.
In the past I’ve tried Home Chef, HelloFresh, Blue Apron, and the now-defunct Pantry Boy. EveryPlate is not only the best value, but is also yummy!
Weekly Menu for EveryPlate
While I am an adventurous eater, the rest of my family likes to stay a little more traditional. EveryPlate does a great job of incorporating classic favorites and flavors from around the world into the weekly menu. And the ingredients are things I can easily find in my local grocery store if I want to replicate the meal in the future (which I have done several times!).
Some of our favorite meals so far have been Greek Chicken Pitas with Sour Cream Tzatziki and Lemony Potato Wedges and Creamy Cajun Chicken Sausage Penne. I have made the Skillet Apple Pork Chops with Roasted Sweet Potatoes and Green Beans more than once after receiving it in a box. The Lime Crema and Pickled Onion were a surprisingly delicious touch to the Steak Fajita Bowl.
My pasta-loving husband enjoyed the Pork Sausage and Mushroom Linguine with a Creamy Parmesan Sauce and Tuscan Herbed Chicken over Creamy Tomato Linguine. The Gravy Lover’s Meatballs with Roasted Garlic Mashed Potatoes and Broccoli was a classic comfort meal.
The Hoisin Chicken and Bell Pepper Stir Fry over Lime Rice is a nice homage to my daughter’s cultural roots. (Read about her China Adoption Journey here.) And I was pumped to try completely new dishes with the Pork Sausage-Stuffed Delicata Squash with Couscous and Mozzarella and the Chimichurri Steak Bowls with Jasmine Rice and Pickled Jalapeño.
These are just a sampling of the delicious recipes we have tried from EveryPlate. There is usually at least one pasta recipe, a traditional meal, something with a little kick, a hint of international flavor, a hearty sandwich, a multiple vegetarian options, and the premium choices. These are all full plate meals with applicable side dishes. I occasionally add a salad or bread to meals I’m trying to stretch a little for leftovers, but I appreciate that it is a full meal delivered to my house.
EveryPlate has recently introduced add-ons to the weekly box like garlic bread, salad, dessert, or even chicken breasts and ranch steak so you can do much of your grocery shopping in one swoop. I’m thinking adding one of their soups to my next box for easy lunches throughout the week. It’s hard to beat $7.99 for 3-4 servings of pre-made chicken, pork, and shrimp gumbo!
Easy Home-Cooked Dinners for the Family
One of my favorite benefits of any meal delivery service is not having to worry about what to make for dinner. With EveryPlate, all the fresh ingredients arrive at my door. They do a good job of packing meat on the bottom with a recyclable cardboard box on top filled with the produce, grains, spices, and other necessary items.
The color recipe cards clearly state what ingredients are used, what additional pantry items you’ll need (usually things like butter, olive oil, sugar, or flour), and the prep and cook time for each meal on the front. The back has a maximum of six steps with photos to make your home-cooked meal easy to prepare. Most EveryPlate meals are estimated to be ready in 30-45 minutes.
I find that with all meal kits it takes me a few minutes extra to prepare because I am unfamiliar with the recipes. However, these are the best meals to incorporate my children into the cooking process! My son likes to read the instructions to me and assist with the actual cooking. The photos make it easy for my younger daughter to match the ingredients needed. She pulls a chair up to the counter to hand me things and help with stirring or other simple tasks.
In less than an hour, I can turn dinner prep into a family experience, cook, and serve a fresh home-cooked meal. And it’s all for less than $5 per serving! (Or if you use my EveryPlate coupon, you can save $105 on your first three boxes!)
Convenient Plan and Pricing Options
EveryPlate has meal delivery subscription options for two or four people. The two-person plan lets you choose three, four, or five meals per week. We use the four-person plan which includes three recipes.
Our family consists of two adults, my 10-year-old son, and my 6-year-old daughter. My husband and I both like to eat dinner leftovers for lunch the next day, so I typically cook 5-6 servings of whatever I make. Most EveryPlate recipes have enough to feed us all and have leftovers, so I consider the portion sizes to be generous. This is important to me and I have found this lacking in some of the other meal kits I’ve tried.
EveryPlate deliveries are easy to skip or cancel. They send reminder emails when it is time to pick your recipes for the week or you can just skip the week completely with no charge. I often choose to skip all the upcoming deliveries and then unskip when I’m ready so that I’m not accidentally charged. You can cancel at any time with no issues.
Pros of EveryPlate
I can provide a delicious home-cooked dinner to my family without the hassle of meal planning or a grocery store trip. Almost everything I need is delivered to my door, including relatively simple recipe instruction cards. And it’s cheaper than competitor meal kit companies I’ve tried.
Plus, you can save $105 on your first three EveryPlate boxes here! They also periodically give you free boxes to give to your friends and let you earn a $20 EveryPlate discount code for each person you refer.
They aren’t paying me to say this (though I would gladly accept compensation if any executives are reading!), but I think EveryPlate is the best delivery meal kit available for the value. It’s affordable and the food tastes good!
Cons of EveryPlate
I haven’t found much to complain about with EveryPlate. My least favorite thing is that for my area the only delivery day is Friday, though they have been experimenting with Sundays recently. If possible, I try not to cook elaborate meals on the weekends, which means that the ingredients usually sit a few days before being used. Another delivery option would ensure the box is at its most fresh.
The other con is that they use the same recipe card whether it is a meal for two or four people. Sometimes the instructions are specific for the difference in the two amounts but other times it is a little confusing. This hasn’t caused any issues with my final products but does attribute to my earlier comment about it taking me longer to make meals when I am not familiar with the recipes.
EveryPlate Review Bottom Line
If you are looking for the convenience of a meal kit delivery but don’t want to spend a fortune, EveryPlate is a great option. I have tried at least five different companies and not only is EveryPlate my favorite, it is also the least expensive.
But don’t just take my word for it! Save $105 off your first three EveryPlate boxes with this promo today. That’s about $1.79 per serving and is really tough to beat with inflated grocery costs these days!

I’ve never tried a meal delivery service. In my country they aren’t very popular (not even sure if there are any). EveryPlate sounds amazing and like a great option for busy families. All the meals sound incredible xx
They are really good for busy families! Hopefully you’ll have something similar soon. Thanks for stopping by!
I love to cook and I’m pretty good at it so I was a bit skeptical, but I absolutely love Every Plate! I enjoy there Spanish, Asian, and Mediterranean dishes the most! This meal service is worth every penny. Many of the meals are even better than you would get at most restaurants! Highly recommend!
It’s a great way to try new recipes. I’m doing a gnocchi dish for the first time tonight and am excited about it! Thanks for sharing your experience!
Hello Fresh has been great! I signed up to encourage my 11-year-old daughter to find an interest in cooking, and boy has it worked! Not only is she choosing her own meals, reading the recipes and prepping food on her own (she’s not allowed to use the stove or oven just yet!), the food we’re making is really delicious! Oh, and she’s trying new things because she’s cooking them herself!
One of my peppers are not good half filled with liquid the whole top missing it leaked all over box potatoes ect tried to reach them mutiple times to be on hold forever cant get anyone.
I’m sorry you had a bad experience! They’ve always been helpful when I contacted help. The one time I had an issue I contacted them through the chat feature on their website. I think they refunded some of my payment or something. It’s been a while ago and was before COVID. Here’s a link to the chat if you need it. https://www.everyplate.com/contact
These look really good and at a good price but I was wondering if you have a list of ingredients for each meal. My husband has to avoid MSG as it produces migraines for him.
Hi, Jane! EveryPlate does list the ingredients for each of their meals so you can select the ones that work for you. I’m sure they would be happy to answer any specific questions for you as well. If it helps, I also get migraines and haven’t had any problems with my EveryPlate meals. Feel free to reach out to them directly with specific questions here: https://www.everyplate.com/plans?c=ES-3CARZD0TR&plans_ab=true&utm_campaign=clipboard&utm_medium=referral&utm_source=raf-share-hpt
All ingredients provided are listed with photos; items you need to furnish are also listed and are very basic kitchen items like flour, butter, cooking oil, salt and or pepper. Try Everyplate, you will not be disappointed.
I disagree with this review. A lot of the recipes are very similar or different versions of the same. The produce is almost always not in the best shape. The portions are also very small.
I’m sorry you had a bad experience! I suggest you reach out directly to EveryPlate to see if their customer service team can help.
What an awesome review. Thank you for taking time to do this. I have already signed up for everyplate. Super excited!
Good! I hope you like it!
Cool blog! I LOVE Every Plate and have been raving about it since I tried it. I don’t hear it advertised as much as Hello Fresh, and I believe they are the same company. My roommate got it and I was obsessed with Hello Fresh at first but now I choose Every Plate over it every time. The meals are a lot simpler.
One thing I love is since I’m cooking these meals for myself only, I get 6 meals for around $38 with taxes. Its really worth it if you’re single.
It is a great deal! Glad you enjoy it!
We tried two shipments of EveryPlate and both came with produce that we had to throw away. Their produce is garbage. Canceled our future shipments.
I’m sorry you had a bad experience! I definitely recommend reaching out to the company. Any issues I’ve had they have given me a credit for or a new box.
We have been ordering from EveryPlate for a month and I will say I am impressed with their simple and tasty meals. Only three meals a week. Haven’t found one yet that I didn’t like. Also started ordering from Home Chef last week for two additional meals. The meals have been ok. EveryPlate definitely has my vote as being the best out of the two especially for the price.
I’ve been a customer for a while. They removed any way to submit feedback other than a phone call. 6 calls, all to the Philippines. Previously, I spoke with employees in the US. The 5th representative hung up on me after telling me he was in the Philippines. Calls are recorded. Apparently, they’ve removed any way to correspond with them or offer feedback, and outsourced their jobs (I can only assume). I’ll pay more from a company that cares.
I started Everyplate in late November 2022, and have had good experiences with contacting them through the live chat on their website.
I’ve used Hello Fresh and loved the recipes and convenience but have been disappointed by the cost and the quality of the produce. To those who left comments about the poor produce in EveryPlate meals… it may just be how it is with meal kits. I love the ease of the recipes, but would gladly provide my own produce. Too bad they didn’t have that option- send all items as usual but no produce; hate to waste. I think I’ll give EveryPlate a try. Thanks for the helpful info!
I started using Everyplate in late November 2022. All but one of the recipes so far have been delicious (I over-roasted that meal!) The recipes take me a long time to make right now (up to two hours with the prepping and cooking, especially the prepping.) However, I’m just getting back into cooking after a long time of just making simple meals, or my husband doing most of the cooking. He and I have been very impressed with the range of flavors and spices that we are discovering with Everyplate. I am learning several new cooking styles and techniques.
We get the four person meal option, and have leftovers for the next day. That way we don’t have to cook every night. The produce has been fresh and beautiful so far, and the other ingredients have usually been high end quality. It is more expensive than the grocery store, but the convenience of having the recipes and ingredients in the right amounts sent directly to our home has been well worth it. It’s much less stressful and a lot more fun. I highly recommend Everyplate!
I’m so glad you’ve had a good experience. I agree that prepping and chopping the ingredients can take awhile, but I think I get faster at it the more I do it. Happy dining!
