It’s week three of my journey with Always Eat After 7 PM and I’m already feeling more healthy! Joel Marion’s new book includes tons of delicious recipes to keep you full while achieving weight-loss goals. As a bonus, I also have more energy to play with my kids when I’m eating nutritious foods.

To jumpstart weight loss and get ready for the program, the first two weeks cut back on calories and carbohydrates. It’s called the Acceleration Phase and I just wrapped it up. While I found the first day I was hungry in the morning, it gradually got much better.
By the end of the 14 days, I felt less bloated, had more energy, and lost six pounds! Most days I had no trouble skipping breakfast provided I followed the guidelines for my late-night snack the day before.
The program focuses on intermittent fasting so you can eat when you are naturally most hungry – at night. Their research found that skipping breakfast can be beneficial for weight loss. As the book explains, “Those who ate breakfast ended up eating about 260 calories more a day, the review found. Those who skipped breakfast were about one pound lighter than those who ate breakfast. These findings led the researchers to conclude that eating breakfast isn’t necessarily a good strategy for losing weight. The science isn’t really there. Breakfast could very well be the least important meal of the day.”
We’ve been traditionally taught to avoid carbs, have an early dinner, and never eat before bed. But the fact is, the latest scientific research shows us this earlier model is not the most ideal. I was nervous about skipping breakfast, but the program eases you into it with Breakfast Smart Snacks.
I tried the Bacon and Caramelized Onion Egg Muffins and they were a hit with my whole family. Any diet that includes bacon is a step ahead of the game, in my opinion!
The Always Eat After 7 PM book breaks down what you should eat each day and at what time, which makes meal planning easier. And the recipe ideas include things my family actually wants to eat so I don’t have to worry about making separate dishes. It even includes desserts!
Always Eat After 7 PM Recipes
Two of my favorite dinner recipes are the BBQ Carnitas Lettuce Tacos and the One-Pan Garlic Roasted Salmon and Broccoli. Both were easy and hits among family members who aren’t participating in this diet. And with the guidelines provided in the book, it is also easy to convert some of the meals in my normal rotation to fit the plan.

Thank you so much for sharing! I actually just started doing intermittent fasting 3-4 weeks ago. It’s something I never thought I could do because I love to eat, but it has been going really well. I feel so much better, I’m able to eat what I want, and I’m less likely to overeat mostly because I just don’t want to anymore. I may have to check out this book for recipes since I’m always looking for more!
I was pleasantly surprised as well! Good luck on your journey and thanks for stopping by!
Interesting about breakfast, as you always hear that it’s the “most important meal of the day” (and I often hear warnings about eating late at night…but I need to or I don’t sleep well).
I wonder if that “most important meal” advice was based back when food was scarcer and people generally worked more labor intensive jobs. Back then burning more calories than you were eating was a problem, not a weight loss plan.
Great point! My dad is a farmer and I can’t imagine him ever skipping breakfast! But my daily life is much different than that. Thanks for reading!
Great information on how and when to eat and how that can lead to weight loss.
This is really interesting. It’s always been ,you shouldn’t eat late at night’…something I just can’t seem to follow anyway. Lol.
This is so helpful! I always eat really late and feel as if it’s so wrong, great to read there’s evidence against it! I’d be interested to see if this could work for me.
I know! I love when evidence supports something I already do! Lol!
Great post Jessica! Thank you for sharing!
