Potty training is the worst. Especially during the middle of the night. I don’t know about you, but I would much rather be snoozing in the comfort of my own bed than worrying about setting back potty training with overnight pull-ups or changing my toddler’s urine-soaked sheets at 2 a.m. That’s why I think the folks at Peejamas are absolute geniuses! Read on my for Peejamas review.

Note: After originally writing this post without any compensation, the folks at Peejamas reached out and gave me a free pair of pajamas to review! These soft and plush pajamas are made to absorb urine but still leave kids with a slightly wet sensation that reinforces daytime potty training.

My Peejamas Review

Back when we potty trained my son he quickly caught on to the principles during the day. We went straight from diapers to real underwear, which he mostly grasped in three days. But I was so afraid that switching him to overnight pull-ups would set him back.

I don’t want to calculate the money we spent on costly disposable nighttime pull-ups in the months it took him to master nighttime potty training. Washable and reusable Peejamas would have saved us tons of money! But, alas, they hadn’t been invented yet. Sigh.

While my daughter’s sensory processing disorder and trauma background make potty training her much more challenging, I am excited that Peejamas are an option for her. (Read about our adoption journey here.)

If you are a parent who is preparing to potty train or currently in the throes of this milestone, here is my Peejamas review and five reasons I think they are the best alternative to overnight pull-ups.

Peejamas - Helping Parents and Kids!

Peejamas Reinforce Daytime Potty-Training Principles

My daughter brags about being a “big kid” when wearing underwear. She knows big kids use the potty, so I don’t want to do anything to dispel this belief. But she isn’t yet nighttime potty trained so I run into some issues.

Disposable overnight pull-ups are designed to wick moisture away, leaving your toddler feeling nice and dry. Peejamas are designed to allow for that damp sensation without the mess for mom and dad. Therefore, you don’t have to worry about undoing everything your child learned throughout the day.

My daughter is beginning to tell us when she needs to potty during the night. Peejamas help her feel like she’s wearing underwear but give me peace of mind that if she has an accident the sheets will stay dry.

Save Money Versus Overnight Pull-Ups

I read that parents pay more than $2,000 throughout their child’s potty-training journey. That’s insane! And that doesn’t include the cost of nighttime pull-ups, which can cost twice the amount of regular diapers.

Peejamas can be washed and reused 300 times without losing their absorbency, saving you money and peace of mind.

They also have options with fun characters like Daniel Tiger if that is appealing to your little one. (And check out my Daniel Tiger birthday party ideas post if they are a big fan!)

Help the Environment

My family did not choose cloth diapers for our kids, primarily out of convenience. But that doesn’t mean that I don’t feel guilty for the tons of waste I know I was contributing to landfills. Peejamas eliminate diapers and are an eco-friendly choice.

Because they are machine washable, these pee-proof pajamas can be used over and over. In fact, they are so durable that they don’t being to lose absorbency until after 300 washes! Remember not to use fabric softener on them for maximum absorption.

Keep kids from peeing the bed with absorbent pajamas

You’ll want Peejamas on your potty training child when you find them like this on your Tempur-Pedic mattress!

Bedwetting Happens

Even when you think potty training is complete, bedwetting can leave you scrambling for dry sheets in the middle of the night. Nighttime incontinence or nocturnal enuresis (the technical names for it) can remain a problem up until age seven, or even beyond is a small number of kids according to the Mayo Clinic.

But as kids get older, they don’t want to wear disposable underwear or an overnight pull-up. Peejamas solves this problem with stylish pajamas in sizes from 2T up to 6/7. And they are working on size 8/9! This can save your child possible embarrassment, even if they are sleeping away from home.

Peejamas Are Convenient

I love that with Peejamas I don’t have to bother with disposable training pants at bedtime. Just pull on the absorbent pajamas and go! If only the entire bedtime routine were that easy…

I like that they are also comfortable for my daughter. Plus, the design and patterns make them look like regular pajamas. I think it’s great that Peejamas doesn’t use harmful chemicals so they are safe on my daughter’s skin.

In addition to bedtime (or even nap time!), Peejamas are also perfect for long road trips. No one wants to clean pee out of a car seat. Especially when you are hours away from home. Just slip into Peejamas before the drive to avoid accident cleanup along the way. (Be sure to check out my tips for taking young children to the beach!)

Peejamas Review Bottom Line

Peejamas are a great alternative to expensive overnight pull-ups that help you get over the nighttime hump of potty training. They are eco-friendly, comfy, and save money versus months of disposable training pants. Plus, they are cute! There are sizes for big kids as well to ease the embarrassment and cleanup of bedwetting into adolescence.

But Peejamas aren’t for every child just yet. Read their disclaimer about children with overactive bladders or heavy wetters here. And if your child likes to poop when she wakes up like mine, you have to be sure to catch them in time! Experienced cloth diaper parents may not have an issue with this, but it is a bit of a challenge for those of us used to disposables.

While they are more expensive than traditional pajamas, Peejamas often runs sales or discounts. And my readers save 15% at checkout with coupon code JGOOD15! I think these are a great idea to solve a problem experienced by potty training parents everywhere. And the name is perfect!
